Keep Closed is distributed through the App Store under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.
Subscriptions and purchases
Subscriptions (Keep Closed Pro Monthly and Yearly) renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and are managed in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. The yearly plan may include a free trial for eligible users; the App Store shows the exact terms before purchase. The lifetime purchase is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account.
Your PIN and your data
Keep Closed cannot recover a PIN, a backup passphrase or a vault: neither ever leaves your device, and we never have them. Forgetting your PIN means losing what is inside.
The distress PIN is designed to destroy the real vault's key immediately, without confirmation and without any way back. Entering it is a deliberate, irreversible deletion of your own data, and no recovery is possible afterwards.
What the app can and cannot protect
The app protects data at rest on a device that is locked or on which the app is locked. It cannot protect a device that is already unlocked in someone else's hands, copies of your content that exist elsewhere (for example in Photos' Recently Deleted, or in backups you made before importing), or against someone who knows your real PIN. The decoy is described publicly; its value depends on what you put in it.
